Radiotherapy :
Radiation therapy employs high-dose energy rays to destroy cancer cells. As a treatment for cancer, radiation therapy may be used independently or along with other cancer treatment options. It may also help shrink the size of a tumor and reduce symptoms associated with advanced cancers.
Radiation therapy is delivered in three main ways: external beam radiation, internal radiation (brachytherapy) and systemic radiation. External beam radiation sends radiation toward the tumor via a machine. Internal radiation involves a radiation source being placed inside the patient’s body, either inside or near the cancer.

External Beam Radiotherapy :
We furnished our external beam radiotherapy unit with a latest generation Varian Vital Beam linear accelerator with newest technology integrations which is also the newest machine in Bangladesh. Besides we are about to install another Artificial Intelligence based linear accelerator which will be able to track the target volume and online tumor adaptation system which leads to a pin-point accuracy in radiotherapy treatment delivery without unnecessary irradiation to the normal tissues.
Brackytherapy :
Our cancer center is in the process of installing a state-of-the-art brachytherapy machine equipped with a Co-60 radio-isotope. This advanced technology is primarily designed for the treatment of cervical cancer, offering highly targeted radiation therapy directly to the affected area. Brachytherapy is a precise and effective treatment option, delivering high doses of radiation while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.
In addition to cervical cancer, the new brachytherapy machine will also be used for treating other types of cancers where this form of radiation therapy is recommended. Once operational, this technology will enhance our cancer treatment capabilities, providing patients with access to advanced care options that improve outcomes and reduce side effects.

The TMSS Cancer Center in Bangladesh has taken a significant step forward in cancer care by installing the Radixact X9 TomoTherapy system, an innovative radiation therapy machine designed for high-precision and adaptive treatment.

Seamless Imaging and Treatment: Utilizing a CT-based framework, this system integrates imaging with radiation delivery, enabling daily image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). This ensures precise targeting of tumors by adapting to subtle anatomical variations in the patient’s body.
